How Best to Care for Your Valentine’s Day Roses
When you’ve been lucky enough to receive a gift of roses for Valentine’s Day, follow these simple tips and they’ll keep their beauty for days,
Take off the protective plastic that is covering them and the bag they are sat in.
Carefully rinse the bottom of the stems with fresh water.
Remove the guard petals that will have been left on while your blooms were in transit.
Cut about 1 inch off the bottom of each stem, at an angle. This will open up the pores, and allow the bloom to take in more water.
Fill a vase with water at room temperature, and mix in any plant food that came with the purchase.
Take off any excess foliage that is below the water line.
After 3 days re-cut the stems, change the water and add another packet of plant food if available. The water taking on a yellowy tinge, indicates that the water needs changing.
Keep your roses out of direct sunlight, and away from heat and draughts.
We wish all of you out there a Happy Valentine’s Day, and if you’ve been lucky enough to receive Valentine’s roses………enjoy.
